Dictator Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong may see a electoral contest with his own younger brother Lee Hsien Yang, after the latter was seen having a meeting with opposition leader Dr Tan Cheng Bock.
Yesterday (Feb 2), the two political heavyweights met at a food centre market at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10, and posed for media photos in their walkabout at the Prime Minister’s constituency.
Dr Tan Cheng Bock, a former PAP MP for 26 years, recently just created a new political party, the Progress Singapore Party (PSP), with support from Lee Hsien Yang.
Lee Hsien Yang however must contest Ang Mo Kio GRC for the below reasons:
1) For his father Lee Kuan Yew’s legacy
Singapore is at a general state of decline at all fronts: social, economic, equality, democratic political system, freedom, foreign diplomacy and even national identity. The country is now literally destroyed in the hands of Lee Hsien Loong, with him undoing the good work ploughed by Lee Kuan Yew. The ruling party PAP’s branding is now a corrupted white, taking legalised corrupted millions for salaries and derelict in their duty of taking care of Singaporeans. PAP under Lee Hsien Loong today stands for nothing the values it stood for when it was created by Lee Kuan Yew, and its new 4G leadership are all cronies and selfish opportunists out to make a haul from politics. Lee Kuan Yew gave his all for Singapore, and as his son, Lee Hsien Yang has a duty to continue his legacy and make things right taking care the people. It is the son’s responsibility to do their father’s name justice, and defend it from unscrupulous hypocrites abusing the name of Lee Kuan Yew for political gains. Contesting Ang Mo Kio GRC and removing Lee Hsien Loong is the only solution.
2) For his son Li Shengwu, his wife Lee Suet Fern and his sister Lee Wei Ling
Lee Hsien Yang’s son, Li Shengwu, was framed for “contempt of court” in a setup by the Attorney General. The current professor at Harvard University is currently self-exiled in US and unable to return to Singapore. There is no greater family shame and what would Lee Kuan Yew think if he knew his grandson is now forced to never return to the very country he built?
Lee Hsien Yang’s wife Lee Suet Fern has been falsely accused of doctoring Lee Kuan Yew’s last will. Through legalised corruption and cronyism, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong called on his former private lawyer and current Attorney General Lucien Wong to file a lawsuit against Lee Suet Fern demanding that her lawyer’s license be suspended following an alleged “professional misconduct” over Lee Kuan Yew’s last will. This is clearly political persecution, considering that the legitimacy of the will was never contested.
Lee Hsien Yang’s sister Lee Wei Ling is also stuck living in the dilapidated house of 38 Oxley Road, as she is afraid that when she moved out, their dictator brother will enforce the National Heritage Act to turn their family house into a museum.
What happened to Li Shengwu, Lee Suet Fern and Lee Wei Ling is only a precursor. What makes you think that Lee Hsien Loong will stop, or even hesitate making a direct move against his very own brother Lee Hsien Yang who now still appear to be in a clean slate? Banking on the mercy of your oppressor is suicide, Lee Hsien Loong will go in for the kill and Lee Hsien Yang will be the next to be on exile and never returning to Singapore.
3) Honouring the last will of Lee Kuan Yew
Lee Kuan Yew, in his last will and several interviews when he was alive, has explicitly stated that his house must be demolished and that he does not want the family house be turned into a memorial.
Lee Hsien Yang once swore to “do all he can” to honour the last will of his father, and that is to demolish 38 Oxley Road. It will be poor excuse of his character if he sees a path to fulfilling it and ignoring it out of his own selfish convenience. Welding premiership powers, Lee Hsien Loong has repeatedly seen abusing his powers to achieve his own political agenda, and there is a high chance that 38 Oxley Road will be turned into a museum under Lee Hsien Loong’s usual pretense to “recuse himself”. To eliminate this probability, Lee Hsien Loong must be unseated and there is no one more suited than Lee Hsien Yang. Removing his brother from premiership powers is not enough, Lee Hsien Yang must make himself the Prime Minister to ensure that his father’s last will follow through. Simply put, Lee Hsien Yang must not be half-hearted or emulate his brother’s hypocrisy saying “oh I did my best, out of my control anyway Pa.”
A) By the way, Lee Hsien Yang winning Ang Mo Kio GRC is not a tall order.
If Lee Hsien Yang were to contest Lee Hsien Loong, the younger brother will take away the legacy and the bulk of the Lee Kuan Yew’s votes which Lee Hsien Loong inherited. The 38 Oxley Road saga have Singaporeans swaying to Lee Hsien Yang’s side, with the majority supporting the demolition. Lee Hsien Yang now holds the real Lee Kuan Yew flag, and this translates to votes.
B) Lee Hsien Yang is more qualified than Lee Hsien Loong
In all honesty, Lee Hsien Yang is more qualified than Lee Hsien Loong and their father Lee Kuan Yew once suggested this in an interview. Lee Hsien Yang, the former CEO of several state-owned company Singtel and Chairman of statutory board Civil Aviation Authority, however refused to take up the role.
Unlike his younger brother’s business experience, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong was previously an army general who has never worked a day in the private sector. Every Singaporean can see for themselves having to make do with the “lesser Lee”, and the hardships suffered by the people is timely reminder again for the real successor of Lee Kuan Yew.
C) The ship is here
The timing is never better than before or in the future. Dr Tan Cheng Bock is 78 years old, and this is probably his last election. The popular former PAP MP is now an Opposition leader – a perfect solution to dumping the longstanding fake news that the opposition lack credibility. Making the right move at the right time is the hallmark of all successful leaders, and Lee Hsien Yang would be an absolute fool to let his reservations get the better of him.
9% GST is coming and Lee Hsien Loong is about to make a mockery of your father by ascending himself to be the new Mentor Minister when he retires. Be the honourable son.
The ship is here, hop on it and score us a victory, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Yang. Contest Ang Mo Kio GRC.
